BANGKOK 10 DEC: Pratunam / Cafe Hopping / Shibuya Honey Toast

DAY 2

we woke up bright and early with the intention of touring Pratunam Market and was told that our hostel hosts were preparing breakfast for us!! we were a bit skeptical at first because our room wasn't supposed to come with breakfast but Joe, one of the hostel owners, was so sincere that we got very excited over this fortituous news. breakfast was very hearty and we had a taste of one of the most amazing handmade crepes in our lives (not exaggerating)!

exhausted but happy faces. egg + muffin + ham + sausage + crepe = :D

after our bellies were full, we headed to Pratunam Market - a wholesale market for clothes that was reputed to sell their items at a much cheaper price than Platinum Mall. i remembered i had quite a good haul the last time i was here, but we didn't get the same serendipity this time round. Y found the clothes 'not as nice as Platinum' but we did managed to get one good buy :D

the entrance of Pratunam from where we walked from! lots of food & drink carts lining the streets, tantalising with the smell and novelty.

next on our itinerary were Siam Square and MBK. didn't stay long there because we weren't impressed with the elite brands and the less-than-ideal prices of the stuff at both places so we quickly hopped on the BTS to head towards our next destination: Thong Lo!

BTS ticket
after a short taxi ride from the Thong Lo BTS station and some stumbling around, we arrived at this uber hip placed called SeenSpace 13! was initially researching on After You because Y wanted to try out the famous Shibuya Honey Toast and then i realised there was another outlet at this place, so we decided to avoid the mainstream crowd and come here instead. this place turned out to be such a gem. the place was populated with chic cafes and watering holes - would probably be an amazing space to chill and people watch (:

After You turned out to be located outside of SeenSpace, but was just around the corner where it stood beside even more chic cafes, bars and restaurants. we were quite excited to try the Shibuya Honey Toast that has received SO MUCH acclaim from our friends & the online community.

bars around the area

the interior of After You! i really loved how airy and cosy the space was (:

when our Shibuya Honey Toast came, we dug into it enthusiastically, and it sure did not disappoint... the layering of the honey, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream with the crispy, buttered toast was completely out of the world. my tastebuds were hitting all the high notes. definitely a must-try!

WALAU CRAVING IT ALREADY T.T

after that, we headed over to Mr. Jones' Orphanage back at SeenSpace. even though we were really stuffed, we wanted to soak in the atmosphere of this place that has been touted by so many. a themed cafe with a strong concept, it stood from the other run-of-the-mill cafes we're so used to in Singapore.

hello pretty cakes!

our passionfruit soufflĂ©!

the toys made for wonderful muse for storytelling

we even explored their upper floor and discovered that it was deliberately made very low so it would encourage comfortable lolling on their sofas, though it did make it pretty difficult to walk around.

dinner was at Thong Lo's own Sukhumvit Soi 38 - one of Bangkok's famous food street!

we settled for pig trotter's rice in the end haha. who can resist....

my perennial favourite!!
