lost in LA

got lost in LA for close to 3 hours at night yesterday... and the situation was made worse by the fact that it was already dark by 730pm. not to mention i was carrying two heavy bags of groceries... by that time i was hungry (from not eating since morning), tired (from taking a dance class in the afternoon) and extremely disorientated. had to keep chanting "you can do this van, you're a tough cookie" and reminding myself to stay safe for B but walking along stretches of roads in darkness with no one around can get to you really fast. the bus system here is quite screwed up as well; it's pretty damn hard to navigate your way without 3G because the roads/stops aren't listed nicely at the stops like they do in Singapore.

so, after the hundredth wrong turn and the thousandth wrong bus, i ended up at (yet another) place i did not recognize and broke down :( that feeling of lost and despair really sucks. but thankful for all the kind people i met along the way who tried to help me out one way or another. got exposed to a better fraction of the LA culture; how diverse the crowd is, how strangers will just chat you up and how people will just tell you things the way they are without sugercoating their words. and i'm starting to love this place more.
