day 1 of LA adventures

soooooo, i walked for about a full hour today at 220pm... that covers about ___ km under the sweltering California sun. today marks the first day of freedom since the parents have left so i decided i should probably go explore the area and recee the bus route to ucla at the same time. but the smart genius that is me did the math wrongly and thought i didn't have enough change to take two buses. the solution i came up with was to walk to the second bus stop so that i can just take the 2nd bus instead. i thought: "hey since i have all day to explore (i should make use of each day i'm in America), i should be game enough for this! probably can use it for sightseeing too."

well, okay. but pico boulevard well exceeded my expectations of what a street should be like (LA you surprise me everyday). i was walking on the SAME ROAD for the entire hour non-stop and it just never ended. luckily i rehearsed the route on google maps first before i left the house or i would have been stranded in the middle of nowhere with no internet access. but the walk was interesting nonetheless. at least a once-in-a-lifetime experience right? and it makes for understanding the bus routes better as well.

so then after that i finally found the second bus stop and took a bus to ucla! (which only freaking lasted for 5 min haha). the Westwood area was a lot livelier and friendlier, and i felt a lot safer than i was downtown. so generally a very happy place (: got off at ucla, gaped at the beautiful buildings once more then proceeded to take the bus back to my place again. and i managed to slip into a ucla store to buy a bruins shirt before i left! at least one ucla article to bring back and show those Singaporeans wearing fake ucla tops HOW IT'S DONE YO.

the rest of the day was pretty much navigating around my area, trying to get stuff i need. got a flannel bedsheet which is superrrr soft and corkboards to decorate my room with pictures and notes (: unfortunately, my google nexus is OUT OF STOCK at all staples store (what the eff) so i'm gonna try wal-mart tomorrow.

foresee a lot more walking until i get my bike :(((( the LA sun is toxicccc. should also start to shop at the supermarkets tomorrow to cook my meals if not i'm gonna have to survive on $5 subway footlongs for the rest of my trip hahaha.
