i'm in LA baby.

so,

HELLO WORLD I'M IN SUNNY CALIFORNIAAAAAAA :D

okay i have been here for about a week and a half already, but the past few days were taken up by what i call survival decision-making stuff (SDS) i.e. settling phone lines, bank accounts, getting a bike etc. my parents are with me as well so that's ten million points knocked off from the fun factor. ugh. i'm trying to keep the sardonic raincloud out of my head as much as i can but it's really to no avail. better to just keep to my shell until they're gone and then... UNLEASH MY INNER KRA- CHILD.

in retrospect, this is really a dream come true. i've never been to the states before so everything is an eye-opener. and i mean everything. their traffic baffles me, their supermarkets fascinate me and the schools are just beautiful. ucla is like a town on its own, with a full-fledged self-sustaining road system and facilities. the architecture, the weather and the people contribute to a postcard picture of confidence, comfort and intelligence. i really am quite excited about school and getting the chance to meet real-life professors who are not just bigshot names that keeps popping up our readings anymore. omg haha.

andddd SSA outing was really fun yesterday. it was great being able to be a couple hours' away from the suppression of my parents and just catch my breath at the most beautiful beach i've ever been. i was literally quite breathless from staring at the setting sun resting on the limitless span of the shoreline. the beach is huuuuuge and it's just blankets and blankets of pure sand. sand that was actually fine and soft and cool to the touch, i must add. it was extremely sunny but the wind was cool so quite the perfect combinatinon for a beach day. the company was also very friendly and very fun-loving and it was good to feel like a young teenager again.

all in all, not too bad a start. only wish things would quickly pick up from now. list of things to do when parents are finally gone:

1. get a google nexus
2. check out ML and DR studios!
3. cycle around the Westwood area/ to Santa Monica Beach (Carter says it takes abt an hour)
3. try Jumba Juice
4. decorate my room (:

p.s. was originally very excited about cooking my own meals but the kitchen is in a horrible state coz they're gonna remodel soon (soon being a very vague understatement). dirty, unkempt kitchens are a huge turnoff.
