lido day was particularly interesting today because for the first time since i've studied there, i encountered a few amusing characters who shared my bench and brought with them a different story to tell. the first one was a high-commission officer (?) from Pakistan who was eating his lunch opposite me. he started to strike up a conversation and after a while when he realized i'm learning french, we had this brief conversation in french! it was really ego-boosting speaking a foreign language to a stranger like you're damn seh like that xD he can also speak Italian, Arabic and (of course) English, how cool is that! and he lamented the fact that Singaporeans are forever so busy; it's hard to find a friend you can share your life and really count on. which struck a cord in me, because i could really connect with what he's saying and it felt rather nice being able to chat so comfortably with someone you've never met before (: haha and he wished me best of luck for 'A' levels (:
subsequently two other people shared my bench... and left soon after. (it was kinda entertaining observing them eat/do their stuff haha) then suddenly a cute girl came over, gave me this embarrassed smile and asked if i could help her. apparently she wanted me to "draw a map of a place where it's good to read a book." i was like LOL WTF what kind of favour/question is that?! but i gamely obliged and i could hear traces of excitement in her voice, as if she was expectantly waiting to see what i could surprise her with. hahaha i was rather bemused because i know i'd probably do something as random as what she's doing one day too but i was more impressed by her sense of adventure? for lack of better word. it made me think of where my favourite place in Singapore was too, a place where i could do something peacefully by myself, like enjoy a good read or fix a jigsaw puzzle ^^ endeavouring to find out after 'A's.
ok enough of this narration of my daily activities. my blog is starting to sound like tag's...
