#JABENADVANTURES: ASAKUSA / IKEBUKURO

Asakusa is one of Tokyo's most historical districts, maintaining the old soul and vibe of traditional Tokyo despite having witnessed the ebb and flow of time over decades. though i think it's starting to become a lot more of a tourist trap, with the entire streets cross-hatching the famous Sensoji Shrine selling kitschy trinkets and overpriced souvenirs, you can still see cobwebs of the past in the exquisite, intricate carvings on the pillars, on the walls, in the ceilings... this was the first shrine we visited since we stepped foot in Tokyo, and i cannot begin to verbalise the choke of wonder you get when you see something so beautiful.

 ignore the sleepy face.

look at that piece of art!

you tend to justify your buys a lot more when you're overseas. this was some crispy biscuit thing that, come to think of it, tastes really like wang wang.

saw the sign and naturally linked it to the heavenly tasting Diddy Reese ice cream sandwich that was my substance back in the LA days. B is a complete sucker for ice cream so of course he bought it.

... turns out this was it. 300Y for this small piece of shit hahaha sucker.

decided to try my luck at drawing a lot.

 not very good :/

refusing to bow down to fate, i chose another one...

okay much better :) HAHA. classic case of self-denial, only wanting to believe the lots that prophesy good fortune.

Directions: cross the street from Asakusa Station

after that, we headed to Ikebukuro for some idle shopping and exploration. didn't really had anything in mind except that i wanted to check out the Kit Kat chocolatory (!!) and the gyoza stadium at Sunshine City. i think it turned out to be a lot more rewarding than we expected because along the way we chanced upon some mega sale at H&M ($3 tops!!) and stalls along the road that sold Japanese treats for rocket bottom prices. i think we swept like 6 packets of matcha kit lat at one go OH MY GLORIOUS ADDICTION.

the one and only Kit Kat chocolatory in Tokyo! but it was quite underwhelming to realise it's just a small corner in the departmental store :((

nonetheless, still packed with some very interesting flavours! apparently you can only get these flavours here...

 yup, we got this.

the gyoza stadium at Sunshine City! quite overpriced, so we didn't had much, but gyozas there are undeniably good.
